The Event

The Day of Digital Freedom is an event organized by the Chaos community and takes place for the third
time in a row in Tübingen.

At the event, freaks, artists, utopians, and simply curious people come together to learn from and with
each other. What connects us all is the open exchange about creativity, beauty, our society, technology,
and its impact on us and the rapidly advancing climate crisis.

The ChaosTreff Tübingen is still relatively young and is in the process of building and maintaining a
community. Their shared values are to create a space together and non-commercially where one can learn
from each other, unfold, and organize. This should also serve as a forum for the exchange of related
groups and individuals.

The Day of Digital Freedom is there to realize this utopia. If you share our values and ethics and want to help, you are cordially invited.

Workshops are scheduled for 45 minutes.

online, we will give you feedback after the deadline.

If you would like to contribute something outside of this form or need anything else, please feel free to
contact tdf@cttue.de

Submission guidelines

Please provide us with a meaningful, as complete as possible, but not excessively long description of your
planned presentation/workshop via the web interface. Your description has a major impact on the selection
and, if accepted, also on your audience. So please engage intensively with your description before
submitting it.

It is not useful to submit company or product propaganda, not even covertly. Marketing and sales droids
will be ruthlessly filtered out without a trace. We want to create a non-commercial event.

Presentations can be either 20 minutes (plus questions) or 45 minutes (plus questions). Workshops can be
selected in the interface for 45 minutes. If you wish for different lengths, let us know by simply entering that information in the
notes field.

Tracks

You can classify your contributions into the following topics / also expect additional content.

Creativity & Beauty

The quote "you can create art and beauty with a computer" from Steven Levis' Hacker Ethics (1984) is the
guiding principle for this track. We look forward to submissions that combine performing or visual arts
with themes and techniques of the digital world and the ideas of hacker culture.

Ethics, Politics & Society

The track examines the ethical, political, and social consequences of technology that affect our lives. It
is about constructive and encouraging contributions on how to counteract the general feeling of powerlessness
that arises from current trends such as the decline of democracy, climate crisis, and wars.

Hardware & Code

We surround ourselves with things that we (seemingly) cannot understand, open, repair, or even manufacture.
It doesn't have to be that way. We can be "makers" and learn how to make and modify things, understand
and program them. We look forward to contributions that show how we can empower ourselves with
technology.

Digitality & (Media) Literacy

This track is about the ability to critically understand digital technologies and media, to use them
responsibly, and to navigate safely in the digital world. Contributions on media literacy, data protection,
cyber security, critical thinking, and ethics in the digital context are welcome.

Diversity & Mindfulness

People are different. There are forms of diversity that we culturally accept or don't even perceive. It
becomes problematic when individuals or groups are excluded or harmed, whether because of their origin,
sexual orientation and identity, or the way their brains work. How can we develop a perception of diversity
and a positive approach to it in the digital world.

Sustainability & Climate Justice

This track welcomes all submissions that critically examine the design and use of technology in the current
context of global ecological injustice and the collapse of ecosystems. We look forward to contributions
that strive for and promote a sustainable, just, and democratic digital future.
